The 21 Judgments of the Tribulation: God's Wrath / Christ's Victory

11/20/2024

As we continue our Bible study on End Times prophecy, we now arrive at one of the most sobering and awe-inspiring sections of Revelation: the 21 judgments poured out during the seven-year Tribulation. These judgments are not random acts of destruction—they are purposeful, divine responses to sin, rebellion, and the rejection of Christ.

📜 The Purpose of the Tribulation
Before diving into the judgments, let’s remember why the Tribulation occurs:
  • To prepare Israel for her Messiah
  • To bring an end to the time of the Gentiles
  • To punish mankind for sin
The Tribulation begins with the signing of a peace treaty between Israel and the Antichrist (Daniel 9:27) and ends with the Second Coming of Christ and His victory at Armageddon (Revelation 11–21).

⚖️ The Three Waves of Judgments
The judgments unfold in three escalating waves: Seals, Trumpets, and Bowls—each containing seven judgments.  Throughout these judgments it is estimated that Billions of people will be killed.   In fact, the bible tells us in Zechariah 13:8 that only 1/3 of the Jewish population who enters the tribulation will be alive at the end of the tribulation.   Let’s take a look at the 21 judgments.
1. Seal Judgments (Revelation 6, 8:1)
Opened by Jesus Himself (Revelation 5), these judgments begin the unraveling of peace on earth.
  • First Seal:  White Horse and Rider (Rev. 6:1-2) – The Antichrist
  • Second Seal: Red Horse (Rev. 6:3-4) - WAR
  • Third Seal: Black Horse (Rev. 6:5-6) - Famine
  • Fourth Seal: Pale Horse (Rev. 6: 7-8) – Plague/Pestilence
  • Fifth Seal: Martyred Remnant (Rev. 6:9-11)
  • Sixth Seal: The Wrath of the Lamb Earthquake (Rev. 6:12-17)
  • Seventh Seal: Silence and intro to Trumpets (Rev. 8:1-6) -

2. Trumpet Judgments (Revelation 8:7–9:21, 11:15–19)
These judgments intensify in both scope and supernatural origin.
  • First Trumpet: Hail, Fire and Blood (Rev. 8:7) – 1/3 of all trees and grass destroyed
  • Second Trumpet: Mountain burning with fire (Rev. 8:8-9) – Meteor/Asteroid
  • Third Trumpet: Wormwood (Rev. 8:10-11)
  • Fourth Trumpet: DARKNESS (Rev. 8:12-13)
  • Fifth Trumpet:  First Woe – Apollyon (Rev. 9:1-11)
  • Sixth Trumpet: Second Woe – Horsemen Army (Rev. 9:13-19)
  • Seventh Trumpet: Third Woe – LOUD Voices/Christ’s Coronation (Rev. 11:15-19)

3. Bowl Judgments (Revelation 16)
These final judgments complete God’s wrath and prepare the earth for Christ’s return.
  • First Bowl: Foul and Loathsome sores (Rev. 16:1-2)
  • Second Bowl: Sea turns to blood (Rev. 16:3) – Kills all the remaining sea life.
  • Third Bowl: Rivers turn to blood (Rev. 16:4-7)
  • Fourth Bowl: The Sun Scorches Men (Rev. 16:8-9)
  • Fifth Bowl: DARKNESS (Rev. 16:10-11)
  • Sixth Bowl: The Euphrates Dries up (Rev. 16:12)
  • Seventh Bowl: Earthquake  (Rev. 16:17-21)

👑 The Return of Christ — Victory for the Lamb
With the judgments complete, Revelation 17–18 declares the victory of Jesus Christ:
“These will make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb will overcome them, for He is Lord of lords and King of kings.”
                                                                                                                        -- Revelation 17:14
The Tribulation ends. Christ reigns. Evil is defeated. The Lamb is victorious!

🙏 Final Thoughts
For believers, this is not a message of fear—it’s a call to action and worship.  We won’t be here for these judgments, but we must live with urgency and compassion.   We must follow the acronym POW which stands for:
  • PRAY — For the unsaved to come to Christ before it’s too late.
  • OBEY — God’s Word while we still have time.
  • WORSHIP — The Lamb who was slain and who will reign forever!

                                            “…Come Quickly…Lord Jesus.”
                                                                                         —Revelation 22:20

The Coming Wars

11/13/2024

As we continue our journey through End Times prophecy, we now turn to three pivotal chapters in Scripture: Psalm 83, Isaiah 17, and Ezekiel 38–39.  These chapters outline a sequence of wars involving Israel and her surrounding nations. These passages offer both historical echoes and future warnings, and they may very well be unfolding right before our eyes.   We will also take a look at a few of the wars which will take place during the Tribulation as detailed in the book of Revelation.

🔥 Psalm 83 — A Confederacy Against Israel
Psalm 83 is a cry for God not to remain silent as a coalition of nations conspires against Israel.  Psalm 83:4 tells us that “They have said, ‘Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation, That the name of Israel may be remembered no more.’”

Verses 6–8 then go on to list ten nations surrounding Israel—Edom, Moab, Ammon, Amalek, Philistia, Tyre, Assyria, and others—who unite in hostility.   Many Jewish scholars, including Amir Tsarfati, believe this prophecy was fulfilled during Israel’s rebirth in 1948, when neighboring nations launched attacks.  Jordan and Egypt, now bound by peace treaties, are expected to remain neutral in future conflicts like Ezekiel 38–39..  Meanwhile, others argue Psalm 83 is yet to be fulfilled, or that its fulfillment is unfolding now. I personally believe with the horrific actions made by Hamas against Israel on October 7, 2023, we may be witnessing the build-up to this war.  We are currently seeing Israel being attached by Hamas in Gaza, the Houthis, Hezbollah and Iran.   If the Psalm 83 war hasn't happened already, it may be right at our door.   Either way, when Israel emerges from the current attacks in victory, it may lead to territorial expansion and a brief period of peace and safety—setting the stage for what comes next.

💣 Isaiah 17 — The Fall of Damascus
Isaiah 17 delivers a chilling prophecy:  “Behold, Damascus will cease from being a city, And it will be a ruinous heap.” (Isaiah 17:1)

Damascus, the capital of Syria and one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities, is prophesied to be utterly destroyed. This has never yet happened in history. The judgment appears to be divine punishment for Syria’s hostility toward Israel.

Some possible Timing Scenarios to consider:
  • Before the Tribulation — Could trigger the Ezekiel 38 war (“hook in the jaw”)
  • During the Tribulation — May unfold as part of the judgments or lead into Armageddon
  • Pre-Millennial — Could occur at the beginning of Christ’s reign
Bill Salus, in his book Israelstine, suggests this destruction could be the final straw that draws Russia into war against Israel.  Psalm 83:8 mentions Assyria joining the confederacy—possibly linked to Damascus’s fall. Could Iranian and Russian weapons be stockpiled there now?

⚔️ Ezekiel 38–39 — The Gog-Magog War
Ezekiel 38–39 describes a massive military assault on Israel, led by a coalition of nations. But God Himself intervenes:  “I will bring you against My land, so that the nations may know Me, when I am hallowed in you, O Gog, before their eyes.” (Ezekiel 38:16)
Key Players and Their Modern Equivalents:
  • Gog: More of a title like Pharoah or Czar
  • Magog: According to Josephus this refers to the Scythians.   Modern day equivalent would be Russia and the former Soviet Republics ("the Stans")
  • Rosh: This is most likely modern day Russia.
  • Meschech:  Ezekiel 39:1-2 refers to this as a land far north of Israel.  Josephus associates this with Cappodocia in modern day Turkey.
  • Tubal:  Some Bible scholars associate this with the Tobolsk region in Russia near the Tobol river.
  • Persia:  This is modern day Iran which was actually called Persia until 1935.
  • Cush:  This is believed to be modern day Ethiopia and the Sudan.
  • Put:  This is most likely modern day Libya.
  • Beth Togarmah:  Literally this means the "house of Togarmah" and by most accounts represents modern day Turkey.
  • Gomer:  Most likely another reference to modern day Turkey although some of said that it can also refer to parts of Europe.

These nations will form a coalition to strike Israel “like a cloud” (Ez. 38:9), but God will use this as judgment against them. Israel will spend seven months burying the dead and seven years living off the spoils (Ez. 39:9, 12).    Additionally, several other countries are referred to as "sitting on the sidelines", but not participating.  The overall impact of this war is that Israel will be attacked by a coalition of countries led by Russia, Iran, Turkey, Libya and Sudan.   Ezekiel 38:4 tells us that it will be an "enticed" attack as GOD will but a "hook in their jaw" and use this attack as judgment against them.   The coalition will fail miserably because GOD will intervene on Israel's behalf!

🕊️ Tribulation Wars and Final Battles
The seven-year Tribulation will include multiple wars—some conventional, others possibly nuclear. Two major battles are highlighted at the end of Revelation:
  1. Armageddon (Revelation 19:17–19):  Led by the Antichrist, the enemies of God gather to defeat Christ—but fail miserably. Unlike Ezekiel 38, this battle ends with birds feasting on the fallen, not Israel collecting weapons.
  2. Final Rebellion (Revelation 20:7–9):  After the Millennial reign, Satan deceives the nations once more—including Gog and Magog. But this time, fire comes down from heaven and consumes them.

🙏 Final Thoughts
We are living in a time of prophetic convergence. Psalm 83 may be unfolding right in front of our eyes. Damascus may be nearing its prophesied ruin. The Gog-Magog war could be on the horizon. But through it all, God’s sovereignty remains unshaken. He will defend His people. He will fulfill His Word.
Stay watchful. Stay prayerful. And above all, stay grounded in Scripture!

                                                      “…Come Quickly…Lord Jesus.”
                                                                                                      —Revelation 22:20

The Revelation Timeline

10/30/2024

In our journey through the End Times Bible Study, we’ve explored the prophetic framework, the signs of the times, and how we should live in light of Christ’s imminent return. Now, let’s take a step back and look at the big picture—a timeline of events as laid out in Scripture, particularly through the lens of a Literal, Pre-Tribulation, Pre-Millennial viewpoint.

This overview is not meant to be exhaustive, but it will help us to understand the flow of prophetic events and where we, the Church, fit into God’s plan.

🕰️ Daniel’s 70th Week: The Prophetic Framework
“Seventy ‘sevens’ are decreed for your people and your holy city…”
                                                                                          —Daniel 9:24–27
Daniel’s prophecy outlines 70 weeks (or sets of seven years) for Israel. The first 69 weeks have already been fulfilled. The Church Age—where we are now—is a pause between the 69th and 70th week. Importantly, the Church did not replace Israel.  God’s covenant with Israel remains, and the final week (seven years) will be fulfilled during the Tribulation.   We will look at this in greater detail when we move forward in our study on the book of Daniel.

📜 The Revelation Timeline (Pre-Trib Perspective)
Here’s a general sequence of events based on Scripture.  The overall order of items like the battle of God and Magog may change, but this is the general order/timing as we can see in scripture.

1. ✝️ Resurrection of Jesus
Detailed in the Gospels, this is the cornerstone of our faith and the beginning of the New Covenant.

2. ⬆️ Ascension of Christ
“I go to prepare a place for you… I will come again and receive you to Myself.”
                                                                                         —John 14:1–3
Jesus ascended to heaven and promised to return for His Bride.

3. 🕊️ The Church Age
Described in Revelation 2–3, this is the current age of grace and evangelism.

4. ⚠️ End Times Signs
As discussed in Part 2, we are witnessing the convergence and acceleration of prophetic signs.

5. 📣 The Rapture
“For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout… and the dead in Christ will rise first.”
                                                                                        —1 Thessalonians 4:16–17
“We will all stand before the judgment seat of Christ.”
                                                                                        —Romans 14:10
Christ returns in the air to gather His Church. Believers are taken to heaven and appear before the Bema Seat of Christ for rewards.

6. ⚔️ Battle of Gog and Magog
This battle is described in detail in Ezekiel 38 & 39.  It is clear from history that this has not yet occurred and may actually happen before or during the early stages of the Tribulation. More on this in the next post!

🌍 The 7-Year Tribulation (Revelation 4–18)
“He will confirm a covenant with many for one ‘seven.’”
                                                                                          —Daniel 9:27
The Tribulation begins not with the Rapture, but with the signing of a peace treaty between Israel and the Antichrist.

During this 7 year tribulation we see that there will be three Sets of 7 Judgments (21 in total):
  • Seal Judgments — Revelation 6
  • Trumpet Judgments — Revelation 8–9
  • Bowl/Vial Judgments — Revelation 15–16
As believers looking at this from a Pre-Trib perspective, we are reminded not to fear, because
“...we are not appointed to wrath.”

                                                                                             —1 Thessalonians 5:9

There are also several events which will occur 3 ½ years into the tribulation at the "midpoint" of the tribulation.   These midpoint events include:
  • The Antichrist breaks the peace treaty
  • The Antichrist commits the abomination of desolation (Daniel 9:27; 2 Thessalonians 2:3–10)
  • The Antichrist sets up an image of himself to be worshipped  (Revelation 13)
  • The beginning of the Great Tribulation  (Revelation 7:14; Jeremiah 30:7)

At the end of the 7 year tribulation there will be a final attack on Jerusalem and on JESUS which leads to the Battle of Armageddon.

👑 The Return of Christ
“I saw heaven standing open… and the armies of heaven were following Him.”
                                                                                              —Revelation 19:11–14
Jesus returns with His Bride to defeat the Antichrist and establish His Kingdom.   That's right...for those of us who are Christians, our view for this event will be from behind JESUS because we will be WITH HIM!

🔒 Satan Bound and Christ’s Millennial Reign
“He seized the dragon… and bound him for a thousand years.”
                                                                                            —Revelation 20:2
Christ reigns on earth for 1,000 years. Satan is bound, peace is restored, and righteousness prevails.

🐍 Satan’s Final Defeat
“When the thousand years are over, Satan will be released… but fire came down from heaven and devoured them.”
                                                                                              —Revelation 20:7–10
Satan is released briefly, deceives many, and is ultimately defeated forever.

⚖️ The Great White Throne Judgment
“Then I saw a great white throne and Him who was seated on it…”
                                                                                               —Revelation 20:11–15
All unbelievers are judged and cast into the lake of fire. This is the final judgment.

🌅 New Heaven and New Earth
“Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth… He will wipe every tear from their eyes.”
                                                                                               —Revelation 21–22
God creates a new Heaven, a new Earth and a new Jerusalem. Eternity begins. No more pain, death, or sorrow.  Just perfect fellowship with our Savior - JESUS CHRIST!

🙏 Final Thoughts
This timeline is not just a roadmap—it is the revelation of Jesus Christ.  Every event points to His glory, His justice, and His love. As believers, we can look forward with TRUE HOPE, knowing that we are not destined for wrath but for salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ.   If you do not already know HIM as your LORD and SAVIOR, DO NOT DELAY, for HE IS COMING SOON!  Don't be caught unaware!

                                                           “…Come Quickly…Lord Jesus.”

                                                                                             —Revelation 22:20

What should we do now?

10/23/2024

In the first two posts of this Bible Study series, we explored the prophetic framework of Revelation and the compelling signs that suggest we are living in the End Times. But now comes the most important question of all:       What should we do about it?

If we truly believe that the return of Jesus is near, our response must go beyond curiosity or casual interest. It must move us to action, urgency, and faithfulness.    Let's take a quick look!

🧭 We Are Called to Be Watchful
“Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come.”
                                                                                                —Matthew 24:42
Jesus repeatedly told His disciples to stay alert. Not to panic. Not to hide. But to watch. To be spiritually awake and aware of the times.
“You also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.”
                                                                                                —Matthew 24:44

🔥 We Are Called to Be Holy
“So then, dear friends, since you are looking forward to this, make every effort to be found spotless, blameless and at peace with him.”
                                                                                                —2 Peter 3:14
The End Times are not just about prophecy charts—they’re about purity. If we believe Jesus could return at any moment, we should live like it. This means repenting of sin, walking in obedience, and pursuing holiness - constantly.   This should be our regular practice.  Considering everything going on in the world...living Holy will probably make us really stand out!

📣 We Are Called to Share the Gospel
“And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.”
                                                                                                —Matthew 24:14
The Great Commission doesn’t pause during turbulent times—it intensifies.  Technology has made it possible to reach the ends of the earth. But it’s not just about global missions—it’s about your neighbor, your coworker, your family.   Who can you share the Gospel with today?  Who can you reach BEFORE it is too late?

🛡️ We Are Called to Be Watchful and to Stand Firm
“Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong.”
                                                                                                —1 Corinthians 16:13
As the world grows darker, believers must shine brighter. That means standing firm in the Truth, even when it’s unpopular. It means refusing to compromise, even when it’s costly.

🙏 We Are Called to Encourage One Another
“…not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.”
                                                                                              —Hebrews 10:25
We weren’t meant to walk this journey alone. The closer we get to Christ’s return, the more we need each other.  Staying in the word, coupled with fellowship, prayer, and encouragement are our lifelines in these last days.  This reminds me once again, why Bible Studies like this are so important and so powerful!

🕊️ We Are Called to Live with Hope
“While we wait for the blessed hope—the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ…”
                                                                                             —Titus 2:13
The End Times aren’t just about judgment—they are all about Jesus.   Our hope isn’t in politics, economics, or human solutions.  Our TRUE HOPE is in JESUS our Savior and HIS soon return!.

🙏 Final Thoughts
We may not know the exact moment of Christ’s return, but we do know this: He is coming soon!!   When He does, we want to be found faithful.   So let’s live with urgency.  Let’s love with compassion.  Let’s serve with joy.  Let’s proclaim the Gospel boldly.  Let’s keep our eyes fixed on Jesus—the Author and Finisher of our faith.

                                                  “…Come Quickly…LORD JESUS!”
                                                                                              —Revelation 22:20

Are we Living in the END TIMES?  10 Reasons that say...YES!

10/16/2024

Continuing from our Bible Study, let's take a look at answering the question "Are we living n the End Times"?

There’s a growing sense among believers and even non-believers that something is shifting in the world. The pace of change continues at a mind boggling pace. The headlines are relentless and the signs—well, they seem to be everywhere. After more than thirty years of studying Bible prophecy, I believe we are witnessing the convergence and acceleration of events that Scripture foretold thousands of years ago.

Let me be clear: only God knows the exact day and hour of Christ’s return (Matthew 24:36). But Hebrews 10:25 tells us that believers will see “the Day” approaching.  Additionally, 1 Thessalonians 5 reminds us that while the world will be caught off guard like a thief in the night (v. 2), but we as children of the light will not be surprised (v. 4).

So why now? Why is this so important?

🚨 Acceleration and Convergence
I believe that what we are seeing is a rapid acceleration of global events—political, technological, cultural, and spiritual.  At the same time, there is a convergence of prophetic signs described in Matthew 24, Mark 13, Luke 21, and the Book of Daniel.   In Daniel 12:4, the Old Testament prophet was told: “But you, Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book until the time of the end; many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall increase.”

I believe we are in this period of "the end" as we see all of these things coming together.  Like birth pangs, these signs are increasing in both frequency and intensity.

🔟 Ten Reasons We May Be in the Last Days
Let's take a look at ten compelling reasons—supported by Scripture and current events—that suggest we are living in the End Times. This is not an exhaustive list, but it is definitely a sobering one.

1. 🇮🇱 Israel’s Rebirth as a Nation
“For I will take you from among the nations, gather you out of all countries, and bring you into your own land.”
                                                                —Ezekiel 36:24; 37:21
In 1948, Israel became a nation again—fulfilling a key prophecy and restarting God’s prophetic time clock.  Remember, many people who lived before 1948 thought that this couldn't possibly be a literal fulfillment, but GOD re-birthed the Nation of Israel in one day!

2. 🕍 Jerusalem Under Jewish Control
“Jerusalem will be trampled by Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.”
                                                               —Luke 21:24
In 1967, during the Six-Day War, Israel regained control of Jerusalem. In 2017, the U.S. formally recognized Jerusalem as Israel’s capital—another prophetic milestone.  Jerusalem remains under Jewish control today!

3. ⚔️ Wars and Rumors of Wars
“You will hear of wars and rumors of wars… but the end is not yet.”
                                                                —Matthew 24:6
From global conflicts to civil unrest, the world is on edge. Ezekiel 38 describes a coalition—Russia, Iran, Turkey, Sudan, Libya—poised to attack Israel.  We’re watching those alliances form in real time.   Just in the past few years, we have seen major wars between Russia and Ukraine, Africa, and almost continuous wars in the Middle East...I'd say that we are hearing of Wars and Rumors of Wars!

4. 🏛️ The Re-Emergence of the Roman Empire
“The seven heads are seven hills… They are also seven kings. Five have fallen, one is, the other has not yet come…”
                                                                  —Revelation 17:9–10
Rome was never truly conquered.  Even though most people put the "end date" of the Roman Empire at around 476 AD, scriptures tells us that a Revived Roman Empire will re-emerge in the Last days!  In fact, Daniel 2, 7, and 9 all provide details of a revived Roman Empire in the last days. The formation of the European Union in 1993 may be the beginning of this fulfillment.

5. 🌍 Global Government and Religion
“All the world marveled and followed the beast.”
                                                                  —Revelation 13:3
“All inhabitants of the earth will worship the beast…”
                                                                  —Revelation 13:8
The 2008 global financial crisis showed how quickly people would surrender sovereignty for security.   We saw this again with the COVID lockdowns just a few years ago.  The G20 and World Economic Forum continue to push for global solutions—including the “Great Reset” to be implemented by 2030.

6. 🌀 Cultural Perversion
“But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves… without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good…”
                                                                   —2 Timothy 3:1–4
As in the days of Noah and Lot, wickedness is rampant. What was once shameful is now celebrated.

7. 🌪️ Natural Disasters
“There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of birth pains.”
                                                                     —Matthew 24:7–8
From hurricanes to wildfires to earthquakes, natural disasters are increasing in frequency and severity.  Many people have said that, there have been natural disasters since the beginning of time, however, I would argue that the frequency and severity is increasing at scales that we have not seen before.

8. 🦠 Pestilence
“There will be great earthquakes, famines and pestilences in various places…”
                                                                      —Luke 21:11
COVID-19 was unprecedented in its global impact. Each year brings new warnings of deadlier outbreaks and new "global restrictions".

9. 💔 The Love of Many Will Grow Cold
“Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold.”
                                                                     —Matthew 24:12
We see it everywhere—anger, division, violence. From riots to shootings, the world is growing colder by the day.

10. 🌐 Spiritual Signs
“And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.”
—Matthew 24:14
Thanks to technology, the Gospel is reaching every corner of the globe. At the same time, apostasy is rising. According to Barna:
  • Only 66% of U.S. adults identify as Christian
  • Only 4% of all adults—and just 6% of self-identified Christians—hold a biblical worldview

🙏 Final Thoughts
We are not called to panic—we are called to prepare. The signs are not meant to scare us, but to wake us up. Jesus is coming soon. The question is: are we ready?
“So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect Him.”
                                                                             —Matthew 24:44

Let’s live with urgency, share the Gospel boldly, and keep our eyes fixed on Jesus—the Author and Finisher of our faith!

                                                    "...come quickly...Lord Jesus!"
                                                                             — Revelation 22:20

End Times Bible Study: A Literal, Pre-Trib, Pre-Millennial Perspective

10/9/2024

This week we began our new End Times Bible Study.   This BLOG post summarizes some of the information discussed during this week's session.   The study is scheduled to take place the Second Tuesday of each month at 7PM ET.  This blog series, based on the monthly Bible Study, will offer an overview of the Book of Revelation and the End Times from what I believe is the most biblically sound and realistic viewpoint: a Literal, Pre-Tribulation, and Pre-Millennial perspective. I know that there are other viewpoints out there, but our study will be based from this viewpoint.  If you are interested in more information, just contact us!

                       ____________________________________________________

For over thirty years, I’ve been captivated by the study of biblical prophecy and the End Times. It’s a topic that has sparked countless debates, inspired deep devotion, and—let’s be honest—caused more than a little confusion. While there are many interpretations out there, one truth remains: we won’t fully understand everything until we are in glory with our Lord - but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t study it. In fact, God’s Word encourages us to do just that.

📖 Why Study Prophecy?
Before diving into the details, let’s answer a foundational question: Why does Bible prophecy matter?
  • 28% of the Bible is prophetic—that’s roughly 8,000 verses!
  • 333 prophecies are about Jesus—109 were fulfilled at His first coming, leaving 224 yet to be fulfilled.
  • God doesn’t want us to be ignorant
“But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers and sisters, about those who are asleep…”
                                                                                                                 —1 Thessalonians 4:13
  • It’s all about Jesus—the more we study prophecy, the more we understand His character, His plan, and His glory.
  • There’s a blessing in it
“Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear it and take to heart what is written in it…”
                                                                                                                 —Revelation 1:3

Let’s be clear: this study is not about setting dates or indulging in speculation. The focus is found in Revelation 1:1--“The Revelation of Jesus Christ…” It’s all about Him!

🔍 How Should We Approach Bible Prophecy?
I believe in starting with the plain sense of Scripture.  As David Reagan of Lamb & Lion Ministries wisely once said:   “When the plain sense of Scripture makes common sense, seek no other sense lest you end up with nonsense.”

That means we will interpret prophecy literally unless the text clearly indicates symbolism.

🧭 Understanding the Different Viewpoints
There is a very broad landscape of viewpoints related to End Times theology.  Four of the main viewpoints include:
  • Preterist:  Everything happened in the 1st century A.D.
  • Historicist:  Fulfilled progressively throughout church history
  • Symbolic (Idealist):  Entirely spiritualized, not literal
  • Futurist: The events in Revelation will be fulfilled in the future (Revelation 4:1–2)
(The last one -  "Futurist"  -  is my viewpoint.)

There are also differing views on the timing of the Rapture and honestly there are some who even question if the rapture is real (more to come on that as we get into our study).  The primary viewpoints on the rapture timing include:
  • Pre-Trib: Before the Tribulation (1 Thessalonians 4:16–17; Revelation 3:10)
  • Mid-Trib: At the midpoint of the Tribulation
  • Post-Trib: At the end of the Tribulation
  • Pre-Wrath: Just before God’s wrath (6th seal) (Revelation 6:17)
  • Partial Rapture: Only some believers are taken before the Tribulation
(The first one -  "Pre-Trib"  -  is my viewpoint.)

Likewise, there are different views on the Millennium - the 1,000 Year Regin of Christ.  The primary views include:
  • Amillennialism: Symbolic reign during the Church Age
  • Postmillennialism: The Church ushers in Christ’s return after a golden age
  • Premillennialism: Christ will literally reign on earth for 1,000 years after the Tribulation (Revelation 20:1–6)
(The last one -  "Premillennialism"  -  is my viewpoint.)

🧩 The Structure of the book of Revelation
Unlike many other books of the Bible, Revelation unfolds in a sequential manner. It often shifts between scenes in heaven and on earth—like a divine “meanwhile”.   There are also parenthetical sections that pause the timeline to give deeper insight into key events or characters.  An example of this is found in Revelation 4:1:  “After these things I looked, and behold, a door standing open in heaven…”

👥 Key Characters in the book of Revelation
As we journey through this study, we’ll encounter many significant figures:
  • Jesus Christ – The central figure of the entire book (Revelation 1:12–18)
  • John the Revelator – The apostle who received the vision (Revelation 1:9)
  • The Two Witnesses – Possibly Moses, Elijah, or Enoch (Revelation 11:3–12)
  • 144,000 Jewish Evangelists – Sealed servants of God (Revelation 7:4–8; 14:1–5)
  • The Martyrs Under the Throne – Those who died for their faith (Revelation 6:9–11)
  • The Antichrist, False Prophet, and Dragon – The unholy trinity (Revelation 13:1–18; 12:3–9)
  • The Woman (Israel) – Gives birth to the male child (Revelation 12:1–6)
  • The Harlot (Babylon) – Symbol of the Antichrist’s domain (Revelation 17:1–6)

🙏 Final Thoughts
This study isn’t about fear—it’s about faith. It’s not about predicting the future—it’s about knowing the One who holds the future. As we walk through the Book of Revelation and End times Prophecies, my prayer is that we will grow in our understanding, deepen our love for Jesus, and live with greater urgency and hope!

Let’s begin this journey with open hearts, open Bibles, and eyes fixed on Jesus—the Alpha and the Omega.
“I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.”
                                                                                                                     —Revelation 22:13

                      "...Come quickly...LORD JESUS!"
                                                                                                                    —Revelation 22:20

Coming in 2024...

12/31/2023

In 2024, we are planning to lead a new Bible Study focused on the End Times and Bible Prophecy.    If you are interested in joining, please reach out to us on the contact page.

The plan is that we will try to turn each study into a short blog which will then be included on this page of the site.

More details to come, but these are exciting times that we are living in!

BE READY FOR HIS RETURN!

A whole lot of shaking going on...

In Matthew 24, Jesus tells HIS disciples:
And Jesus answered and said to them: “Take heed that no one deceives you.  For many will come in My    name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many.  And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.  For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom.  And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places.  All these are the beginning of sorrows. (Matthew 24: 4-8 NKJV) {emphasis added}

The month of February began with the declaration we have been looking forward to hearing that the pandemic is over (or at least it will be officially over on May 11, 2023) as declared by the White House on January 30, 2023!  Even though it was nice to hear this news, it was a harsh reminder of all who have lost their lives throughout the pandemic along with the realization that COVID will still be with us in some form throughout the months ahead.

A few days after that announcement, we received news that the first of a series of earthquakes had struck Turkey and Syria.   Throughout the month, we have come to learn that as a result of all of these earthquakes, sadly over 40,000 people lost their lives.

In February, we also saw a further decline in the financial markets, with the S&P 500 down 2.61%, the Dow Jones Industrial Average down 4.19%  and the S&P MidCap  400 down 1.95% for the month.   Also during the month, the price of GOLD dropped from ~$1,953 per ounce down to ~$1,825 per ounce, an almost 6.5% drop.

February also saw continued food shortages, most notably was the highlight of the egg shortage!  That coupled with higher fuel prices and an inflation rate for February expected to exceed 7% makes me think that pretty much every area of our lives is being “SHAKEN”.   Think about it, pretty much every area of our lives is being “SHAKEN” right before our very eyes!   There is certainly a “whole lot of shaking going on” (to quote a famous song).   Just in the month of February 2023 alone, the daily news has told us about “Famines, Pestilences and Earthquakes in various places”!    The good news is that none of this should surprise us, because JESUS told us that these things would occur!

People are once again asking “is this the end?”, “are we in the tribulation?”, "is this the end of the world?".   The short answer is a resounding, NO….NOT YET, but it is getting closer by the moment!

The convergence of all the these events occurring so closely together let’s us know that the time of HIS return is getting closer!  The verse above from Matthew 24 uses the phrase, “the beginning of sorrows” in verse 8, however another translation (NASB) states it as, “but all these are merely the beginning of the birth pangs”.   Much like the frequency of contractions which occur with a greater strength and frequency as the time for the birth of a baby comes to be, so we should expect these signs to occur with greater frequency and greater strength as we approach the time of HIS return!

The scary thing is that what we saw during the last few weeks is nothing compared to what will occur during the Tribulation.  The book of Revelation describes 21 judgements which include multiple famines, pestilences and severe earthquakes which are all so severe that billions of people will lose their lives.

Over the coming weeks, I expect that we will hear more about “wars and rumors of wars”, we will see a further “intensifying of the birth bangs” and we will also see a "great falling away".  Why? Because that is what Jesus told us would happen in Scripture!

Today I want to remind you that none of this should drive us to fear, this should drive us to take action!  Are you sure that you are saved?  If not, get yourself right with GOD today!!    If you are sure that you are saved, then who else in your sphere of influence needs to be saved?   Now is the time for us as Christians to prepare ourselves, to pray for our loved ones and to stand firm for the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Be encouraged friends, the time of HIS return is very near!

Is THIS the Tribulation?

6/5/2020

With everything going on with the COVID-19 Global Pandemic, there are a lot of people asking:
                                                               “Is this the end?”
                                                          “Is this the Tribulation?”
“Is this the time of God’s Wrath?”
The short answer is no, not yet….but what we are seeing may be a pre-cursor of events yet to come!

A pre-cursor of an event is an event which comes before and indicates its approach; a forerunner; a harbinger.    Let’s take a look at a few scripture references on this topic of pre-cursors.  Amos 3:7 tells us that “…GOD does nothing unless HE reveals HIS secret counsel to HIS servants the prophets.” (NASB)    In Matthew 24, JESUS told HIS disciples what signs to look for in advance of HIS return.   In fact, 2 Kings chapter 2 tells of the time when the prophet Elijah was taken to heaven.  In this account we see that not only was Elisha aware of the event that would occur that day, but so were the “sons of the prophets who were at Bethel”.   Clearly there have been times where GOD shows HIS people pre-cursors of events that will soon come!

According to scripture, the Tribulation will be a time of unprecedented terror which will come upon the inhabitants of the earth.   It will be a seven-year period of time occurring right before the return of Christ to the earth and after the rapture of the church.  (At least for those of us who interpret scripture as a Pre-Tribulation Rapture.)  The seven-year tribulation period will actually begin with the signing of a covenant between the nation of Israel and the Antichrist.   You may have also heard the Tribulation referred to as “Daniel’s 70th week” or “the time of Jacob’s trouble”.   Whatever words you use to refer to it, the Tribulation is a period of time nobody would want to be on the earth to see, since this period will be a time of the outpouring of God’s Wrath upon the earth through a series of 21 specific judgements.

The book of Revelation, Chapter 6 verses 1 through 8, tells us about the first of these judgements and is sometimes referred to as “the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse.   Let’s take a look:

Then I saw when the Lamb broke one of the seven seals, and I heard one of the four living creatures saying as with a voice of thunder, “Come.” I looked, and behold, a white horse, and he who sat on it had a bow; and a crown was given to him, and he went out conquering and to conquer.
When He broke the second seal, I heard the second living creature saying, “Come.” And another, a red horse, went out; and to him who sat on it, it was granted to take peace from the earth, and that men would slay one another; and a great sword was given to him.
When He broke the third seal, I heard the third living creature saying, “Come.” I looked, and behold, a black horse; and he who sat on it had a pair of scales in his hand. And I heard something like a voice in the center of the four living creatures saying, “A quart of wheat for a denarius, and three quarts of barley for a denarius; and do not damage the oil and the wine.”
When the Lamb broke the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth living creature saying, “Come.” I looked, and behold, an ashen horse; and he who sat on it had the name Death; and Hades was following with him. Authority was given to them over a fourth of the earth, to kill with sword and with famine and with pestilence and by the wild beasts of the earth.

Each of these four horses is used to describe a specific judgement which will come upon the inhabitants of the earth during the tribulation.

The first Horse is the White Horse which represents a world leader who will come to power and be at the forefront throughout much of the Tribulation Period.  Most bible scholars believe that this Ruler on the White Horse refers to the Antichrist.  The description here which speaks of the Antichrist having a bow and a crown is important because it does not refer to him having arrows with his bow.   This implies that the rider on the White Horse will take control through means of diplomacy rather than war.   It is interesting to note that until very recently, one person taking on leadership for the whole world would have been inconceivable.   However, look at what has happened this year with the Global Pandemic and how the entire world was essentially shut down by the edict of a few leaders who used the “well-being”, “health” and “safety” of the people as the rationale to shut everything down and force people into their homes.

The second Horse is the Red Horse and this horse represents war or violence.   Could it be that there are some who will rebel after the “rider on the White Horse” comes to power and those same people are made to “come under control” through the use of violence?   Jesus spoke of “wars and rumors of wars” (Matt 24:6) as a sign of HIS return.   Have you noticed the increase in violence that we have seen throughout the first 20 years of this century?   There is no doubt that we are heading to this time where the Red Horse of Violence will be used to bring people into alignment.

The third Horse is the Black Horse and is a symbol of famine.   Consider the behavior we saw during the early part of the Global Pandemic this spring with people hoarding things like toilet paper and disinfectant.  A behavior that led to shelves at supermarkets being empty for several weeks sending some into panic.   This hoarding behavior quickly became even worse with people buying up more meat than they could eat which coupled with sickness of individuals at meat packing plants led to limits on the amount of meat people could buy.   This scarcity also served to drive up the price of meat over the last few months.  In fact, on May 12 2020, CNBC reported that US grocery costs jump the most in 46 years, led by rising prices for meat and eggs.  Meanwhile, we are also seeing one of the worst Locust outbreaks around the world, the full impact of which is yet to be seen.   The famine referred to in the book of Revelation during the Tribulation will be much worse than anything we have yet seen, however, suddenly, we can see how it can happen.

The fourth Horse it the Pale Horse and it represents Death most likely as a result of war, famine and PESTILENCE.   The definition of a PESTILENCE is a contagious or infectious epidemic disease that is virulent and devastating.    Up until 2020 it was pretty hard to imagine how something like a contagious disease could impact the whole world.   Now after living with COVID-19 throughout the last few months and seeing over 6.7 Million people infected and almost 400 thousand deaths worldwide, it no longer takes a stretch of the imagination to see how a pestilence can cripple the entire world.

The good news today is that we are starting to see clear signs of recovery from the global pandemic.   The even better news is that no, we are not yet in the tribulation.   This gives us the best news, which is that we can get right with the LORD today to ensure we are with HIM, enjoying the Marriage Supper of the Lamb, while the earth is facing the Tribulation.   Do not delay your decision any longer…the time of HIS return is VERY CLOSE!

The Rise of the "Anti-Hero"

2/20/2019

I recently watched the movie “Oceans 8”.   Although I really enjoyed the movie, I couldn’t help but notice that while watching the movie, I was cheering for the thieves to win!    If you have watched any of the “Oceans” movies, you will realize that is nothing new, since these movies are all about watching the “con-men” win.   It is not just the “Oceans” movies that have us cheering for those on the wrong side of the law.   In 2016, DC put out their movie “Suicide Squad”, where a group of convicted thieves and murderers are called together to become a cohort of true “Anti-Heroes” whose mission is to defeat impossible enemies and if they die in the process….so be it.
The Rise of the Anti-Hero is not limited to just what we see in entertainment, we are seeing it in politics, in the media, seemingly everywhere we look.    This really shouldn’t surprise us as this was prophesied thousands of years ago by Timothy.   Timothy tells us in scripture that this is a sign of the Last Days.   Specifically, 2 Timothy 3:1-5 states:

“But realize this, that in the last days difficult times will come.
2 For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, revilers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 unloving, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal, haters of good, 4 treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 holding to a form of godliness, although they have denied its power…”

Earlier this year, the new U.S. Congress was sworn into office.   The major headline that January day was not about the legislative plans or the positive actions we would see from this Congress.   The major headline was instead a foul-mouthed comment made by a freshman representative.   Comments that not too long ago would have been considered treason.    Instead these comments were celebrated and applauded by the mainstream media and this representative was lauded as a “hero” by the late-night talking heads.
On January 22, 2019 we were told that Gov. Andrew Cuomo and the New York Legislature signed into law the Reproductive Health Act.  This new law expands the already existing abortion laws that were in place in New York.   With this new act, “non-physicians” are now allowed to perform abortions.   Furthermore, the law allows for abortions through the third trimester of pregnancy, up to and including the time of birth.  Additionally, the new law removes protections for babies who survive an abortion procedure.  Instead of an outcry against the murdering of innocent lives, this law was met with thunderous applause.   In fact, the Governor of NY stated:

“Today we are taking a giant step forward in the hard-fought battle to ensure a woman's right to make               her own decisions about her own personal health, including the ability to access an abortion."
                                                                                                                         --Governor Andrew M. Cuomo

The Governor of New York was lauded as a “hero of woman’s rights” by some.  Within days of this NY bill passing, we were told of a similar bill making it’s way through the Virginia legislature.   A bill that is seemingly supported by the Governor of Virginia as well as the mainstream media.
As a Christian living in 2019, it is easy to throw up our hands and shrink back in depression when seeing all of this, but I want to encourage you today to take heart – there is HOPE!    None of this is a surprise to GOD, nor should it be a surprise to any of us.   The rise of these “Anti-Hero’s” reminds us that we are in the last days as prophesied by Timothy.   I believe that this is the time when it is most critical for Christians to stand up for what they believe.   By standing up, we will set a standard reminding those that are seeking what is truly right.  Standing firm for the gospel of Jesus Christ will become less and less popular in the days ahead, however it will be more and more important.   You never know how many lives you will impact in these last days, by just standing for what is right according to scripture.

                                         Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil;
                                   Who substitute darkness for light and light for darkness;
Who substitute bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter!
                                                                                                    -- Isaiah 5:20 (NASB)
